Re: Del Mullen
I'm shocked, Del should definitely be celebrated by the State of Colorado and every Steel Player for his contributions and good nature. I hope the family can feel that they can reach out to the members of the forum for any help.

Re: Del Mullen
Del's death is terrible news, and a great loss to the steel guitar world. Hearfelt condolences to the Mullen family.

Re: Del Mullen
Prayers and sincere sympathy to the Mullen family, Loosing 2 family members in such short time.
Loosing Mike and Del so close in time, It may be hard to keep the legacy of the Mullen Steel guitar going.

Re: Del Mullen
I first met Del at the I.S.G.C. convention at the old Chase Park-Plaza Hotel, back in the mid 1970s. I had my (then new) MSA guitar, and he brought his newly-designed Mullen guitar up to my room, and we spent a while noodling around on them, comparing features and talking shop. Del was both friendly and enthusiastic, and I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. Producing pedal steels continuously, for over 50 years, is is certainly a historic accomplishment. His name, and the guitars he created, will live on in the steel world for many decades to come; and that's as fine an epitath as anyone could give.
Rest easy, Del.

Re: Del Mullen
I met Del in Walnut Creek, CA at a steel convention in 1996. He pointed out Bud Carter to me (at the other end of the room). He has told me Bud most likely built my 1970 MSA..... of course this led me to having Bud and John build a custom U 12 for me.
Del was so approachable and friendly.... he will be greatly missed by the steel guitar community. But of course his genius lives on in his fine pedal steels.
