So what am I supposed to do with all of these "Legal Defense Fund" CDs I have in stock?
Seriously, it's good to see old friends become friends again.

Legal defense fund cd's,
another cultural oddity in the steel guitar history.
Maybe all further procceds should go to lessons for that young blind fellow I saw in St Louis , Johnathan.
Now THAT would be a nice legacy for y'all!

Maybe it's already benefitted these kids.
Now they can more safely express their opinions about possibly unsavory business practices, and/or joke about the products of such without being sued for a million or more dollars.
Maybe as they grow up and hear the whole immortalized, sorry saga, they will learn that you make a lot more friends if you solve your personal problems without suing people.
Or not..
I learned it a long time ago.
My Dad told me about it.

CB . Yes, another worth cause you have added too.
Eric I can partly agree with you. In concept yes, in total application with some caveates.
We have freedom of public speach and published speach or opinion.
But also the responsibility to temper it with reason and not let it hurt others,
even if we GREATLY disagree with their positions.
Neither diminishing their livelyhoods or their persons. It is the law.
Now different states have different variations of similar laws.
But it does give one recourse if one feels that their livelyhood is being threatened.
And in the case of companies, their employees also.
We on the OUTSIDE can disagree with when this limit or line of demarcation has been reached,
and different judges can also decide when it has been surpassed in different decisions.
Or when it is "socialy prudent" to take or back off from such legal action.
But Eric, If I said something here on an ongoing basis, or to your bosses, clients or the bands that hire you,
to the effect that you were in someway bad for them and shouldn't be hired,
I think you would be glad there was some recourse for you to take. For your self and you family etc.
Of course I am not, you're cool with me. Just an example.
Or for me if you stated repeatedly : I can' mix, have no clue about engineering a session, and should be avoided in my chosen work field. You may not like it stylistically, but faulting in on technique would be a totally different issue.
As another example.
I am glad cooler heads and kinder hearts have prevailed here. VERY much so.
But must also defend the laws involved here,
as well as each person's right to free speach within the limits of not harming others in any real sense.

Mr Donald.
Many justice systems address such things better than the Texas Legal System, I'm sure.
It's, from my understanding, the solution offered by a Mediator trying to keep the Texas Court System focused on real cases..
Mosaic, Hammurabic, Vedic, Napoleanic, Magna Carta, Karmic, Common, or other Law Systems, all probably have different, more pertinant solutions. None of course being "perfect".
Though this was a specific "beef" within a specific "congregation"; I heartily concur with your take in it, hear what you're saying, and thank you for mentioning my name in the process.
I think everybody got what was coming to them, or they will..
That's all a person can ask for.
Selah.

Reece I wrote you a while back and told you I thought you were big enough to look over this, thanks for proving my confidence in you was right, i think both of you are great men and this proves it to be true.
Jack tells me you have made some great improvements in the MSA, he is really impressd. Looking at all the prices of other top line guitars you are not out of reason with the price with a ground breaking unit,
I wrote Carter for a price on a loquor U 12
The qouted me $5,000.
Reece be well and be with us a long time .
as ever ernie

Ernie, are you hinting that I'm too high on my 35 year old Emmons at $8000.00?????
Seriously, for all the work that goes into ANY steel guitar, the factory asking price isn't really that expensive. These things take a lot of time and a lot of money to produce. Possibly we should be thankful that they aren't even higher. Wait a second, they will be!
Look at the price of cars compared to 10 years ago. Twenty years ago. Thirty years ago. But you know what? Cars are better in many ways today than ever. I have a '77 Buick Electra 225, 10 miles to the gal. (burns a lot of gas too!)
