Free Ride (Edgar Winter) on a Rittenberry steel
Fello friends and all members of the forum,
I just put a short version of Free Ride [Edgar Winter song] playing my Rittenberry steel on youtube. Thankfully, my brain bleeds are gone and I'm doing much better this summer. Wishing you all the very best-God Bless,
Rich

Re: Free Ride (Edgar Winter) on a Rittenberry steel
In 1981 I was working with someone who knew Rick Derringer's wife, at the time, Lizzie, and we went to his house in N.Y.. He was in Edgar Winter's group and played and sang on "Free Ride"
He had a red Sho~Bud Pro II (8x2) in his music room and I asked him about it. A little while later I put it in my car and took it home.
That night, he was the first R&R act to play at the Lone Star Cafe.
When all the equipment was loaded into his truck, at the end of the gig, someone stole the truck.
That was the first year I went to Scotty's convention and to Jeffran.

Re: Free Ride (Edgar Winter) on a Rittenberry steel
Hello Chris,
That's just not right, was the Sho-Bud ever found? Don't know if I could handle someone stealing my instruments. My first trip to Scotty's was 1995 and I went to Jeffran's cabin in 1997 with my new Zum d-10. Really like my Zum but it's getting too heavy for me to cart it to the gigs so I regularly take my Ritt and it's a super steel, too.

Re: Free Ride (Edgar Winter) on a Rittenberry steel
Rick didn't play steel at the Lonestar gig, so I got the Bud.
I sold it and other steels on Ebay, when it first started up, and that paid for most of the mixing, mastering, art, making CDs and putting it on Bandcamp.
Bandcamp isn't a great place to sell records. Why buy when you can listen for free?
Here's "Mosquito Hop" from the record: https://christophertempleton.bandcamp.c ... squito-hop
It's in C6th, It was played on a 10 string Rickenbacker with metal necks that I got for working for Scotty.
I played it with eight strings and It had a bunch of weird psychedelic painting on it. Since Jerry Garcia stopped at Scotty's, I think that it came off his bus.
I will give and send 10 CDs to the first three people who play and record a decent version of "Mosquito Hop".

I would like to thank each one for their feedback here on the forum. This new format doesn't show how to reply to every submission the way it used to when Bob was still running this site. Perhaps I'm just not used to it yet. Rip Bob.
