Check to see if your pictures are too large. They can't be larger than 2024. When a picture won't load for me, that is usually the problem. Try reducing the size of the pictures so they are no larger than 2024.

So I haven’t got it yet, but I bought this one-of-a-kind Williams D8 from Jim Palenscar (it used to belong to forum member Tom Wolverton). It’s waiting for me at my in-laws in VT. We will be travelling to the U.S.A. in a few weeks for a late Christmas celebration with family. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and bring it home to Australia.

Tom designed it to be a hybrid of his Sho-Bud and Stringmaster, which is exactly what I want too! I also believe b0b got to play it and loved it, which is a nice thing to know.

I also have a Williams hybrid.....an S8 tuned to G....and it's exactly a combo of non pedal & pedal steel....I'm sure that you're going to love it.....as I do mine.....

Howard R, have you posted your copedent already? I’m interested in other people’s approaches to 8 string psg. I feel Tom’s setup of E9 (top eight strings) and A6 are going to be perfect for what I want to do, but would be cool to see what you went with.

Santa said that there were issues, so I didn't get the fancy stuff, but you gotta start somewhere.
This is a weird one. It has a round neck, so you can do unspeakable things to it, if you have a 70mm bottleneck.
Tried out a dozen tunings, but this will stay in C6 for now. Happy New Year!

Despite my efforts to stay off Reverb, passing time on Christmas Eve, I saw this beauty, I couldn't help but put in a low bid before turning in.
Before I could drift off, my phone dinged the new email alert. He accepted my bid.




It arrived today.
I'm in love.

It also made feel a lot better.

BTW the green/gold one is a 1952 Bronson made by Valco

My first was a 1958 Supro Comet I got for about $270 not MOT but the famous Valco string thru pup. I was amazed how good it sounded thru my little cheapo practice amp with NO effects. Sustain forever with a great tone and a natural gentle echolike reverb.

I didn't really plan on getting more, but now I have 4! In just the last couple months! Ranging in price from $450-$650. The priciest being a 1941 National New Yorker, which came to $750 with tax and shipping. The other MOT is an 1954 Oahu "Symphony in White"

I may have bit off more than I can chew in the learning curve challenge, considering I just started playing 2 years ago after COVID hit and had no musical training or knowledge whatsoever. But I'm having a lot of fun. At 70, and alone in a rural area, it gives me a reason to get up in the morning.

No guitar per se, but I did pick up a little rechargeable amp for use with my lap steel. $99 Positive Grid Spark Go. Tiny little thing, the size of a small effects pedal, rechargeable battery powered with a ton of digital amp models and effects, but I just need one good sounding one.

Is it good for gigs, no, but doing practices with an ukulele combo? Absolutely perfect. For those times when I think maybe I should take my tricone for simplicity, I don't need much volume but an amp is a pain. Makes my rig a true "paratrooper" rig, lightweight and goes anywhere. Not optimal for gigs or loud practices but if I end up loving the tone you can either use the 3.5mm line out into a PA, or they have a powered speaker cab designed to interface directly with it.
