Very sad news indeed. Jim was honest, passionate, and outspoken, and he will be missed here.

Since there's already been a reply here, I'm consolidating the thread/post ebb started here to this one - he relayed this info from Jim's family:
ebb wrote:on my FB feed

"This is Jim's family. We're writing with shock, sadness and heartbreak that Jim passed away last week.
We’re still sorting through everything, but when we have a date and location for services, we will update everyone here.
This has stunned us all. We appreciate the kindness and space for grieving"
RIP Jim - I'm very sorry we never got to meet in person.

Very sad. I've learned quite a bit (all good stuff) from his participation in this community. R.I.P.
Excel Superb D10, Sarno Black Box, Goodrich L120, various effects into a Sarno Spectrum preamp feeding a Jay Ganz Straight Ahead into pair of JBL K130 loaded cabs.

They say "thats how it goes". I say "that ain't the way it stays!"

Truly sad. I learned much from him, particularly regarding Fender steels. What will we do without him?

I used to correspond with him often, more on the subject of b-bender guitars than steel guitar. Never met, but figured he was one of the nicer folks on the planet. See you in the afterlife, Jim.

Sorry to hear this, as Jim was one of the more colorful and outspoken contributors here. He was passionate about his music, but most of all, about his gear. I can remember when he first got his Fender cable steel, and came on the forum seeking info about it. I gave him all my insight - tips, tricks and opinions, as I had played one for about 8 years back in the '60s. (It was my only guitar, back then). We had some disagreements, but it was all good as we both benefitted from our many exchanges. I'll miss him, here, as I'm sure many others will.

Rest easy, Jim.

Jim was one of the biggest fans and advocates of Fender pedal steels. I always knew if Jim posted something, it would be something I'd be interested in. He'll be missed.

That is a shame. I'm new to this forum, but I often interacted with him elsewhere, particularly on the topic of B-Benders.
