Recommendation for Humbucker for Dekley S10

Post by Tom Jordan »

I'm looking for suggestions for a "bright" humbucker for my Dekley. The stock pickup sounds great but can have some hum issues in the dives and on recordings. Any advice? I'm uncertain of what is meant by "narrow mount" and "wide mount" pickups, so that would be useful. The stock pickup is about an inch and an eighth (front to rear) and about 3/4" high.

Thanks!

Pull the pickup and send it to Scott Swartz at Steeltronics. He will wax pot it and ground it for you. Quick turnaround. The pickup will come back to you dead quiet.

So is the pickup in there now a single coil?
It looks like it from the picture.
And since it's having issues when playing out, it would seem to be.

So given that..........

How is wax potting and "grounding" (whatever that is) a single coil pickup going to make it noise cancelling?
