Joe Edwards, formerly of the Opry Staff Band has passed. Here's his obit:

RIP Joe. I listened to him on the Opry for years. He could always play the great backup and lead breaks on the hard core country songs by guys like Jimmy Dickens, Charlie Walker, Bill Carlisle, etc...

I have a copy of the album. Grand Ole Opry Staff Band on vinyl ,YES VINYL. And Joe was quite a talented musician fiddle and guitar., Now he is with GOD'S Opry Staff Band and angels in heaven

I think Joe actually played a viola, but had it tuned like a fiddle. The photo about appears to be a viola. It's larger than a fiddle.

Joe played them all. When we spent our winters in Zephyrhills, FL Joe lived in the same park. Very nice guy and extremely talented. He may have played viola but all I've seen him play was fiddle. Of course he played guitar and banjo and all the rest.
