Post by Paul Norman (RIP) »

Paul Norman (of Washington NC) passed away this morning in his sleep. He was just shy of 88 years old. He really enjoyed this group and the friends he made here. Thank you for your online companionship with him all these years.

My lifelong friend. To know Paul was to have a good friend, Many happy conversations and barbecue dinners. He loved his friends and steel guitar. Just a glimpse, I was playing a gig and Paul was in the audience and the singer said, "Whadda y'all wanna hear?" Paul piped up, "Wynn Stewart!" I will miss him.

Paul was a great steel guitar lover, friend, and enthusiast of steel guitar music along with its many big-name acts and stars. He and I talked many times over the phone about steel guitar equipment and "chit-chat" about the many steel players in our "neck of the woods". As Clyde said, to know him was to have a friend for life. Paul attended most all of the local steel guitar conventions to listen to the good pickers as well as the bad pickers (me). Men like Paul were the lifeline of steel guitar in our N.C. communities, he will be greatly missed by all of us... RIP my friend.
