Jeannie Seely
Heard today that Jeannie Seely passed away, she was a fabulous vocalist, great writer, nice lady, and a huge proponent of pedal steel guitar.
Rest easy Jeannie......

What a great loss. One of my all-time favorite singers with a kind and gentle personality. The name "Miss Country Soul" was so well-deserved.
My condolences and prayers go out to her family and freinds.
Rest in peace, Jeannie, and Thanks for all the great music you gave us through your amazing career.

I'm sorry to hear this. She was equally as talented at song writing as her singing. She will be missed. Rest in peace.

Re: Jeannie Seely
Rest in peace Jeannie. So sad to hear this. My wife Barb and I with the DC Drifters had the pleasure and honor of backing Jeannie in 2001 and again in 2005. She also spent the night here at our home "Clark Gables" here in Albert Lea MN, in 2005 after the performance. She was one of a kind and had a "spark" and "rasp" in her voice that made her "Special" for sure!!!! We will NEVER forget Jeannie and the time we got to spend with her!!!
Our Prayers and Condolences to her family.
Love,
Barb & Neil Lang

Wow, this is so sad. Jeannie was such a great performer and she wrote so many good songs. Leaving and Saying Goodbye, She Always Got What She Wanted, Life Of A Rodeo Cowboy, etc...
i don't know who's left on the Opry that does the hardcore country music that the Opry was famous for during the 60,s, 70,s and 80,s. She will be missed.

I am so saddened by this. I was fortunes enough to have a nice visit with her in 2019 at a show. She treated me like we’ve known each other forever. She will be missed by everyone. What a voice that heavin has received. Larry and Jean

There are only a handful remaining from the 1960's, arguably the greatest era in Country music history.

One of the grand ladies of country music. I remember when Pete fisher, the Opry manager addressed the cast and said, "We don't want to see a bunch of gray hairs on stage." Jeannie quipped, "Well Pete, we're dyin' as fast as we can." She will be sorely missed.

I'm saddened to hear of Jeannie's passing. I had the good fortune of visiting with her several times back in the day. She was such a great gal. I agree with what others have already said about her career and talent as well as her feelings toward the steel guitar.
My prayers and deepest sympathies go out for all of Jeannie's friends and family. She was awesome!!
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

It's hard not to love Jeannie's reaction on the "Jumpin' Time" DVD when Dawn and the band jumps into Leaving and Saying Goodbye.

Re: Jeannie Seely
A few years ago, I was listening to Willie's Roadhouse, and they said Jeannie had released a new song called "We're Still Hangin' In There Ain't We Jessi?", which is a duet with Jessi Colter, and as I listened to the song, I wondered who was playing steel on it, and I was on Facebook one day, and Jeannie was on Facebook, so I sent her a message, introducing myself, telling her I'm a steel guitarist and that I wanted to know who played steel on the song, so a few seconds later, Jeannie had answered me back, thanking me for loving the song, and then told me it's Tommy White on the record, and I smiled because Jeannie had talked to me. I was also listening to a Christmas record that featured Jeannie, and she sang an awesome version of the Christmas song "Hark The Herald Angels Sing". Jeannie is one of the many Opry stars I wish I could've met. I was sad and shocked when I found out she had died.

It's sad to lose all these legendary country artists. I loved Jeannie's Don't Touch Me song. What a sweet and talented lady. God speed Jeannie.
