Help w id of a T-8

Post by John Kally »

This showed up locally. I’ve never seen this before. Those fingerboards are pretty wild.Any ideas?

That fretboard on the inside neck looks like a case of astigmatism waiting to happen.

Alamo?

The shape of the pickup covers and the wacky fretboards make me think of Framus, or at least inspired by their guitars. I guess the springs in the lid are to hold the legs? I can't imagine that as a lap guitar!

That's a good guess, but looks like Kluson tuners, which of course could be changed.
. I agree I've only seen that pickup cover shape on Framus. Thanks.

The Alamo guess makes sense to a point but don't think they made a t-8. Some of theirs had alamo on the board, and the colored ones didn't have as many colors as this monstrosity. Thanks.

I understand the comments on the PU covers and I've seen many Framus steels but nothing like that!

Normally the covers have a company or model name engraved.

It could be an old East German (former DDR) instrument. There were several manufacturers but again, I've never come across one like that.

The view of the case looks kind of home-made, perhaps a "Frankenstein"?

Just as a humorous side note, somebody bought it and put it on Marketplace as an all original National, complete with what looks like an AI generated description. Priced ant 1975. Absolutely wrong. Thanks again.
